Situated at the heart of the King’s Cross estate, The Jellicoe is a forward-thinking workspace that redefines how we interact with our working environments. Designed by the acclaimed Universal Design Studio, the project embraces a conceptual framework of ‘Worlds within a World’, creating a seamless journey through distinct spatial experiences that support a spectrum of professional and personal needs from deep focus to meditative retreat.
Universal Design Studio appointed Light Forms to deliver a lighting solutions that would elevate the atmosphere, support functional needs, and enrich the layered narrative of the interiors. Known for their sensorial approach to design, the studio envisioned a workplace that blended wellness, flexibility, and a strong visual identity and needed a lighting manufacturer that could deliver precision, creativity, and bespoke detailing.
Each space within The Jellicoe was conceived as a unique setting from an immersive entry antechamber to a lavender-fringed meditation room. The lighting had to respond to these varying moods while ensuring cohesion throughout the building. Light Forms supplied a range of luminaires including Hbeam, Lyra, Tin Can, Nova Small, Nova Medium, Pyxis, RLP1 and Vela.
Light Forms also developed a bespoke triangular profile, extruded and tooled specifically for this project - a defining feature. A 40m x 40m custom linear grid was integrated across key areas, incorporating track lighting, linear fixtures, pendants, and acoustic panelling to offer both visual rhythm and acoustic comfort.
The end result is a seamless integration of lighting, architecture, and interior experience, both visually impactful and quietly functional.
